The Poorna Health Care Trust launched the first Chelation Therapy Clinic in Sri Lanka in 1996. One of our Trustees, Ravi Jayewardene discovered Chelation Therapy when he decided not to do Coronary by-Pass surgery in 1991 after suffering a heart attack. His search for a treatment for coronary heart disease led him to Dr. Neil Scrimgeour who had his practice in Perth Western Australia.

Humane Education Programme
A Schools Programme entitled “Compassionate Citizen” has been screened to thousands of school children through The Society for the Protection of Animal Rights (SPAR).

Our Trustee, Penny Jayewardene was felicitated by the Hindu Ladies Organization in December 2005 for this  Community Work.

Cattle Project
From April 2001 to the end of
July 2001, the PHCT was
involved in caring for 10  head of cattle who were held as wards of the court at Moratuwa Police station. These cattle was transferred to a slaughter house

and a police raid conducted on the slaughter house revealed that that the cattle were stolen property and illegally brought for slaughter.

The main activities of the Trust is a Chelation Therapy Clinic at Ratnam's Hospital Colombo.
